Welcome to the HLS Solutions Autumn Newsletter
We are pleased to be able to provide you with a newsletter filled with information and articles from industry professionals. We hope that you will enjoy this issue and find the articles interesting and informative.
It has been a busy time for us during the last 18 months, as we have been busy developing our Holiday Manager software package. We have received some very valuable assistance from a range of customers and holiday letting professionals and are very enthusiastic about how the program has progressed.
We are excited to be able to announce that we have now successfully completed our limited release period, and will be commencing the roll out of the software fully during the next few months.
Over the coming months we will be including further information we think is relevant to the holiday letting industry and would be delighted to hear your thoughts and feedback and what you would be interested in seeing in future issues...

Energy Performance Certificates (EPC)
The regulations regarding energy performance certificates has been a very testing subject to keep track on during the last year. With new regulations introduced, then postponed, it is easy to see why so many holiday letting businesses are still in the dark about their responsibilities.
The basics of the new rules are that from 30th June 2011, an EPC will now be required for a property rented out as a holiday let subject to certain criteria.

Capital allowances and the furnished holiday letting

There has been a lot of publicity of late about claiming capital allowances in respect of furnished holiday lettings. In part this has been prompted by the withdrawal of the loss relief option against other income from 6 April 2011.
Given that accounts and tax returns for the tax year 2010/11 are still being prepared then it is possible to include capital allowances claims in those computations which can maximise the loss for relief against other income. Therefore there is a “last opportunity” momentum about the whole thing.

With the ability to connect with guests and owners instantly and at little cost wherever they are, is a fantastic facility. It is something that is becoming more widespread in business and the costs for sending business texts have plummeted as well!
